Sturgis Scoopers high school footballThe three-day camp at Chadron State College gave me an opportunity to get a look at my team and how they will work together, plus what our strengths and weaknesses are.

The players that came to camp had the opportunities to work with the coaches of Chadron and gained valuable work on their skills.  As we went into competition, things began nicely, but on the 3rd play of our first scrimmage our starting QB went down with a strained MCL.  Without a backup QB we had to use a wildcat set.

The team rose up and responded very well with this adversity.  As the next few days went on, the team began to bond and develop the unity that is needed to prepare the foundation for the season to come. I saw some flashes of greatness along with the things we need to work-on to become a strong team.  As we return home, it is important that we continue working in the weight room and on the field.  This was the first step in a long journey to bring Sturgis back to winning on consecutive basis.
